Different Levels Of Admin
Hi!
I was hoping someone could explain to me the different levels of administration on this site. I know we recently "lost" one of our Administrators (miss you Dee), and I'm just curious how this whole site functions.
I really appreciate(d) Anna/Dee and I don't want this website to lose that and evolve into some troll space. I really love hearing from those that have been around for years, actively posting.
I would appreciate knowing which each level means. When I look to see who is online, each certain title is highlighted with a particular color, but I'd love to learn more.
And for ALL of you dedicating time/commitment to this forum, I commend you.

We have not lost Dee. He is simply taking a break, which is something all of us need sometimes. He will be back.
This website is well-managed. We are all volunteers. The Greeters, Mods and Admins work as a team to help keep things running smoothly. The Greeters ensure that any new or confused member will feel welcome. Each forum has a Mod or Mods who keep an eye on it. There are also 'behind-the-scenes' issues, which the Admins help out with. And, we have the very best members ever on this board.

Just as a point of order, Anna is an Admin(istrator) and Dee74 is a Mod(erator).
Even though regular dictionaries are not geared toward specific definitions for sites/message boards such as this one, they are a great source for definitions in general................
Administrator................:
a person whose job is to manage a company, school, or other organization;
a person who controls the use of something.
Moderator................:
a person in charge of a meeting.

You could always volunteer, MaidenNZ.
We dedicate many hours of our time to keep chat a safe and welcoming environment for our regular members and Newcomers alike. We also offer Chat Meetings ... they don't run themselves. They are chaired by our members stepping up, and volunteering their time every week.
No one can be here 24/7, but I think, we do one heck of a job.

Opi, there's a special place in heaven for you -- long in the future -- for the enormous amount of time you donate to SR and the chat. The chat and meetings played an instrumental role in my recovery and I spent a lot of time there the first year.
I know you're there as much now as you were then. The words "thank you" are woefully inadequate for all you do for SR.

I mentioned this board to my counselor. I told her it was monumental in my success and it's here 24/7. What I told her was that it's all about people helping each other and the board is well maintained.
I've gone to other sites where there was no attention to rules not bring followed. Things could get really ugly. With this board if something is going awry it's handled tactfully and professionally while still maintaining a hint of love and caring.
I told her that once in a while Anna has to give us "the look" and everything is back to order.

I tell everyone about this website: my family, my friends, anyone who asks how I'm doing, or what I've been doing. It's my first page in the morning, and my last page at night; I can't imagine staying sober without it...for realz!! Arp
Count me in as a "promoter" of this board! I have told my counsellor and anyone else in my circle how incredible SR is; the support, the information and the authentic sense of caring, I don't know where I would be with it.
