Any others in early days?

I had a major slip and it's left me in a lot of physical and mental pain. Is there anyone else out there care to join me here for a bit of mutual support?

Could do with the company really.

Hi there,
Iovely to meet you. I am a fellow member on the 24 hr thread. I noticed you have plugged in there and it's such a great place to get to know people by posting daily.
I can't offer much in the way of advice as I've had my fair share of day 1s.
The fact you have come back means you want to claim your life back.
I know how that feels. We owe it to ourselves and our families.
I'm going to plug into the next SR meeting, something I haven't done before. Would that be something that you might like to plug in to as a newby like me?
Just a thought.
It's nice to connect though and mutual support is something I would love to engage in.

Hey there - I'm day 2 of many attempts. The warm weather + weekend = perfect EXCUSE. Ashamed to say I missed work yesterday after taking down well over 100 units Thurs - Sun, passing out twice. Disgrace.

But - whats the point in sitting here berating ourselves, if you're like me you'll have 'had a word' with yourself several times. So - I plan on reminding myself why I need to do this and how much nicer life is when I'm not drinking...... rather than hashing over all the negative crappy things I think (know) I am. Tomorrow I'll catch up with the guys at AA, and just go back to refusing a drink at a time.

I hope you're feeling better soon?

Me! I joined SR last week with good intentions. Day 2 drank. Yday drank again after only 3 days dry. Soo annoyed and disappointed. Today is dry again. Pick yourself up, dust off and carry on.

Thanks for dropping in here everyone. I'm trying to get a different thought process this time. Instead of "I must resist a drink" I'm accepting that I'm ill. I have a disease. That disease is alcoholism. I'm slowly poisoning myself from the inside. Whilst that's not a pleasant thing to be thinking it is true and that fear will help in the initial stages for me.
Just finished work. This is my trigger time. Going to go out with my girls so I'm unable to buy anything.
I will stay sober today! x

I am at it again too. I am glad there are others out there going through the same thing. Not that I want anyone to suffer but it is comforting to know I am not alone.

2 days in. I feel like I've been trying and failing to control my addictions for years. I was doing well there for a while then the madness starts to increase and I'm out of control again. Time for a serious effort!

It helps me to think about -

why do I want to get drunk?
Do I want to go to bed drunk?
Do I want to feel drunk?

Why? What's going on?

Why don't I stay sober right now?
What's wrong with staying sober?
What do I think drinking will do for me?
Why do I want to feel differently?
What's really best for me right now?

This helps to slow me down and be me more rather than a reactive mindless zombie

Nice to meet you. I am back on day 2, you aren't alone. I think I'm finally "getting" this sober thing, and hopefully all of us will get through this battle sooner rather than later. I hope today finds you doing better. Just for today, just don't drink.

I haven't no Soberwolf. I'm still posting in May as I feel comfortable there. Although I have read it through tonight and recognise some names on there. Not quite sure if there's an etiquette to this SR thing?! Lol us brits are so polite!

I've found an AA meeting tomorrow evening which I'm going to try. I have been before years ago and it didn't feel particularly inclusive but it won't hurt to go.

Take care all x

Hi fripfrop. Hope day 1 has gone well and that you sleep well tonight. I'm going to bed at ridiculously early times. Keeps me safe and a bit more relaxed...

spotting relapse triggers

As a newer member of this group, am getting familiar with everything, and what most of us go through getting to recovery. What I am seeing with my own experiences and that of some members, there are certain "triggers" that get us off track. So It is important to recognize the "triggers" to stop falling back.
Thanks to all that have been and are so courageous to keep fighting and sharing your stories!
