This sounds a lot like me Suzy. I was a weekend drinker and when I did drink, I drank until I passed out. I finally just got sick of it. I've also known a few people that died where alcohol was the culprit. It is poison.

Welcome Suzy. I can relate to you too! I'm also a long distance runner and a heavy drinker. I'm still in denial in many ways that alcohol is a problem for me (for instance, it's hard to type that I am a heavy drinker). Part of the issue for me is that I have so many friends that drink just like I do/did. I've got a little over a month sober now and I the memories of the last time I was drunk have faded. I took a picture and wrote the following day when I was hungover, I'm hoping that looking back on that picture and the writing can keep me from believing that I was just overreacting. I find great support here, and I hope you do too!.
