Antibuse and tirdness

Hi I'm in antibuse about 5 weeks all going great.
Just one drawback I'm blown away on how tired it makes me. I could sleep for hours jurning the day and by 8 need to go to bed again.
Has anyone suffered like this. Other than that it's done the trick!

Yes, I used to feel exhausted when I took it.
Then I started taking it at night before I went to bed which helped somewhat.
Don't worry and congratulations on five weeks.

Best wishes,
Tetra.

Yes it does make me a little tired, so I also take it before bed. And yes....it has done the trick for me!!!! By the way, welcome aboard Ylawler.

Hello,

Me too, I could sleep all day and all night. I take it at night and it helps some but it is thought to deal with. Welcome to the site and congratulations!

It makes me a bit tired but if I stay up and moving, I do okay. It's nothing compared to what a hangover feels like.

That's you all who replied.
Yes took it at night too but I'm off it 4 days now and feel a lot better this way il take it ever four days and that way I know I can't drink. I know that sounds weird but if it works il go with it. Anyone try any others med's? I tried camperal and that def didn't do anything for me.
Thanks all.

Hi Ylawler, my son has been on it a year and does not show any particular tiredness. His doctor has him on 500 mg/3x week and it definitely helped him get back to a pretty normal life. He does not crave alcohol, but I do think he misses the social aspect. It has helped him to socialize in healthier ways, so it's been a godsend.

I have tried Campral and Naltrexone...both anti-craving meds. Campral did nothing for me...I gave it 4 months and no difference. The Naltrexone did work for a short time, then I drank on it one day to test if it really worked. Naltrexone is supposed to block the "high" from alcohol if you do drink...well I drank right through that block....and I was off to the races. That's when I decided to try antabuse..... after many years of rejecting the idea. Well I have been on the antabuse for 6 months and all is well!!
