Need kind thoughts

Hi all,
I'm not having my best day today, it's 3am in the morning and my mind won't stop racing. As my previous post said I'm currently on holiday and today I came face to face with a strongbow pump. I seriously thought about having a couple of pints but as my mouth opened to order I managed to say the words coke please instead.
It really wobbled me! I'm also getting fed up with my destructive buying habits- I'm not even working at moment just have long lines of credit.
I've so many thoughts about jobs, my poor marriage, my children and my life going round I just need them to stop. My thoughts are also quite dark tonight.
I know it's just me being me and trying to destroy myself, and don't really know what to write so night all,.

HI jtmlk

if it's not necessary for you to be in a bar I wouldn't be there.
why make things harder for yourself?

you're doing well - give yourself a pat on the back and tell your inner addict/AV to stroll on

Take some deep breaths & say a couple of positive affirmations about yourself...sending thoughts of strength to you & hope you sleep well.

very good job! Try to focus on some good things. Also, thinking things to death is somewhat if not totally remedied by taking action. Do you know the serenity prayer? It helps me when I feel very overwhelmed and my thoughts spin out of control.
Hang in there... it will get better if you give it time and put in the work.

Thanks for your support everyone, am having a better day today and have decided to stay on holiday for a few more days. In a few hours time I would have been sober 8 weeks- hooray

8 weeks is a huge accomplishment - I really hope you stick with it and continue to see the benefits accumulate. Seems from other SR posters that the really "good" feelings occur in 3, 6, 12 months and beyond. Don't quit now, get through the bad days to make it to that 6 month mark and beyond
