I brought on Type 2 diabetes because of my drinking.

Now, getting my sugars under control.

High BP. 180/ something too. Now doing better

Losing weight, not sure how much yet. Doing daily walks in the morning for exercise & prayer/meditation. Really helps set the day.

I'll add...
GERD and IBS are things of the past. And it was bad. No medication - just quit drinking.
Also, on my last physical, my cholesterol is the lowest it has been in over 25 years when I first started getting it checked. Could be that I am conscious of what I eat now combined with losing the recklessness I had endured over that time... Either way, I am much healthier than I've been for a couple decades and my aches and pains are less overall.

Not really a disease, but I always used to gag and dry heave when brushing my teeth. I'm not missing that one little bit.

I always find it tragic when people in active addiction have all sorts of ailments and ask advice on what should be done.

It is not politically correct but the answer is, "Duh, quit drinking."

Sadly all males in my family who went before me are to blame for my thinning hair.....

Blood pressure before 146/96 now 117/76
Gout symptoms gone.
And many listed already.

I sure miss being hypertensive, living life in a cycle of work, drink, hungover(repeat cycle x 20 years) and in excruciating pain for two weeks during a gout attack.

I don't get it. Someone please remind me why i shouldn't drink anymore?

Sorry gang. Feeling sarcastic.....

Jimmy

Alopecia - I had a ever increasing patch on my head it got quite big and it took 2 rounds of injections months apart as the alopecia returned as soon as my hair did
today most 98% of the patch has cleared up and I have a tiny patch of white hair on the back of my head

If I was drinking none of these things would ever have got sorted out
Very interesting. I had alopecia too. I have heard this comes from stress. I was always incredibly stressed out when I was drunk And hungover every single day.

I'm only 14 days in and I still feel exhausted out of my mind but my anxiety has almost disappeared!
I'm amazed that the panic I felt on a daily basis for years was just a hangover!
I don't want to get too ahead of myself just in case it comes back - but a few things have happened recently that 2 weeks ago would have sent me into a melt down - but I actually feel OK about it!
Unless I'm just too exhausted to care.....
I need this tiredness to go away - I can't function properly
x

No longer have debilitating heatburn. Depression has gotten much much less severe. I'm not nauseous all the time. Shakes have gone. I don't dry heave the whole way home from work. Complexion is way better. And on and on and on.

Hahaha great point.

I only just crossed over 60 days and I still have health problems but I'm no longer a walking zombie, exhausted nauseated and generally ill. No more red puffy face and retained water. Skin and eyes clearer and brighter.

I never had my liver tested but at one point my body wasn't even healthy enough to do any yoga whatsoever anymore. I would immediately get torturous nausea and feel intensely sick and would have to stop so as not to puke. I can do yoga now though

I have to laugh at how long I pretended my gastrointestinal problems were something OTHER than heavy drinking. Disgusting
