Hopeful
Hello, Trembling here. Have been a heavy drinker for a long time. Have managed short stints of sobriety but usually the three month mark is where I backslide. I have been lucky not to have ever suffered horrible withdrawal symptoms such as DT'so or the shakes just the minor stuff. I am hoping that the advice and support of all the fine people here will give me the accountability and support that I need to make this a lifetime commitment to staying sober. So glad to be here,
TREMBLING

Hi Trembling. Glad you found your way here.
I'd suggest coming here often, reading and posting and make a sobriety plan (Dee has a brilliant link )so that you can give yourself the best chance to maintain your sobriety. I'd only ever managed one month(ish)of sobriety a couple of times before I arrived here. With this place, and AA I'm now just over 2 years sober and never been happier.
Welcome.

Welcome and thank you for posting. I have found no matter what I was experiencing through recovery, many here were experiencing the same feelings/emotions etc. I personally find it encouraging and a pile of resources to learn based on others experiences.
Keep at it.

Hello everyone. How nice it was to open my computer and see such overwhelming support. I can already see that this community is going to be a great help to me. As time goes on I will get to "know" the members, and I am looking forward to learning and sharing with all of you. I feel like I have been down this road so many times, but I have never really sought help, or read very much about what alcoholism is, or why I am one. Why me? I see a lot of sticky posts that I am going to spend time reading.
Thanks so much to all of you.
