Hey waterlogged......do ur family know about ur sobriety??? If so I'm sure they'd be happy to support us & perhaps celebrate ur b day doing something that ud enjoy & won't have the worry of having a slip???

It's good that ur questioning how u feel tho & not ignoring it & then getting in a mess!!!! What would YOU like to do for ur b day??? When is it??

Like loulou said, what do YOU want to do for your birthday? Can you plan the outing and make it somewhere without alcohol?

Have to agree with what's said- this is your birthday and should be about what you want.

I have enjoyed 6 birthdays soon to be 7 and there was not an ounce of alcohol present.

Sounds like you need to establish some boundaries. My boundary is, "If it is my deal or it is in my house there will be no alcohol." People know this is non-negotiable so they either live by my rules or they are free not to join me.

If a drink is more important than my life then I really don't want them around

It's your birthday and you should do whatever you feel comfortable with. If you want a low-key birthday, then that's what you should have.

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

Live your life fur you, not for anyone else. The fact that you asked this question, (and the way that you asked it) mean that you already know the answer.

Don't worry, we all need support and validation from those on the journey with us.

I feel the same way as the others waterlogged...this is YOUR day.

And I have the same rules as MIRecovery.

You could go for cake and coffee or go to a cafe, or just go to the shops or for a walk. Or have a take away at home. Happy Birthday!

hi waterlogged, I would not hesitate to pass on going out. If you don't trust yourself, then so be it. Its not a big deal. You can probably have a great time at a place you feel comfortable. Its your birthday, right?
