I think something to symbolize sobriety and/or what means to you is a great idea. its nice to have body art representing something important to you.
I have an arrow on my inner wrist and I find it a great comfort in weaker moments to look at as it was inspired by this quote:
"An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it’s going to launch you into something great."

I love to celebrate my sobriety anniversaries/
birthdays, milestones in recovery with either
a lovely tattoo or piece of jewelry like MIRecovery
has done, even bumper stickers on our car
and motorcycle.
You have know idea how awesome it
is to spot an AA sticker on someones
car right in front of you or on one in
a parking lot at the grocery store.
To be traveling on the road, on a trip
and a car passes with a recovery AA
sticker on the back window or bumper.
People will wave when they see us
on the road and point to our sticker
and give us the thumbs up. How cool
is that....
I also love wearing a pretty AA symbol
around my neck on a black cord. My
symbol has pretty rhinestones around
the outside and when the sun or light
hits it right, it sparkles like crazy.
I also have my gold AA symbol ring
with cross ring paired with it that
im wearing now.
Im not worried or fearful, or ashamed
of wearing my recovery tattoos or jewelry
or bumper stickers for others to see them.
Just being able to see others share
their recovery in whatever way they
want lets me know that I am not alone.
It's just an awesome feeling to show
support in recovery because I never
know when someone will need my
help or save a life.
I continue to be responsible in
recovery anyway I possibly can.

love that idea :-). Some day when I grow up I want a tree of life back piece with my kids initials etched in the trunk, cancer awareness ribbon, butterflies. Love the idea of adding an element to represent sobriety
I have a sobriety tattoo..... but it's broader than just sobriety.
I got a tattoo of a soaring great horned owl. It relates back to my experiences some years ago on a vision fast where I returned with a Spirit Name, having had interaction with my Spirit Animal.
Owl has been a symbol for me throughout life.
I got the tattoo not long after I committed to sobriety. It represents my "Free Owl" Spirit name, the spirit of the Owl watching over me, and my FREEDOM to soar with wise and grateful living - in sobriety.
It's not an anniversary tattoo, it's not overtly (to any other observer) a 'sobriety tattoo' - but to me, it is a symbol of my commitment to sobriety, a reminder of the importance of sobriety to my richness and abundance of life.
I'm all for tattoos.....

All my tattoos I got later in life too.
In my 50's, even more grounded
and honest in my sobriety.
They, like many wonderful gifts
Ive received over my 25 yrs in
sobriety, are much appreciated.
I love color, whether they are
birds, flowers, sugar skulls, gypsy,
hearts, butterflies, words of wisdom,
my tattoos celebrate life, strength,
love, care, freedom like an Eagle
that sits high on my right shoulder.
Tattoos are art to me. and I love
pretty art and choose to show it
on my canvas skin.
