hi - new here
Hi- I'm new to this site, but not new to recovery. I have made many attempts at staying sober but still allow the small things in life to give me "permission" to have a drink, then another and another and another. I realize I am the only one who is responsible for my behavior but i would like the help of others on this forum. I absolutely cannot give up on myself!
Welcome to SR.
I had a tough time trying to get some sobriety time built up.
This place helped me a lot. There's a lot of good people that take the time to talk with you.
Use this site as a tool so you'll have a place to go when getting the urge to drink.

I should have looked at this site as soon as I woke up....i did well for most of today, happily cleaning my house and happy i had a "new" sober date...unfortunately there was a bit of Crown in my fridge and i gave in to my disease. But i still haven't given up hope. I even have the word "hope" (written in Russian) tattooed on my wrist. Thanks to all who replied to me!
This is really, really tough. I have an anxiety disorder and live alone so that's a big reason i drink - to numb the "fear" feelings. I have no idea what i am afraid of, i just know I get very nervous and just want to lie down in the fetal position. It's amazing how the body remembers past traumas and keeps me paranoid. It's so nice outside today that I hope I can use nature to help me stay grounded.
Hope everyone is having a good sober day.

About your anxiety, have you been to see a doc? I've had that for 30 years and like you, is part of why I drank. Being placed on an antidepressant really helped me (they work for anxiety too). This last round of drinking I think we easier to quit because my anxiety wasn't nearly as crippling when coming off the booze (although still rough for several days).
