Can I join you?

I'm on day 3 for the first time in months and this will be first weekend without a drop of alcohol since last April.

Looking forward to Monday morning being able to say on day 7 and weekend went great :-D

I'm surprised no one mentioned groundhog day.
If you have seen the movie, yes, that really goes on.
Well Punxsutawney Phil didn't see his shadow, so it looks like an early spring. And yes, Punxsutawney is the name of a real town in Pennsylvania.
Woo-hoo! An early 'spring'! Of course Phil is wrong 61% of the time.

So now there's a better chance of a snowstorm in March than if he predicted a longer winter.

Oh, btw - Imbolc is also traditionally celebrated the beginning of Feb which is where groundhog day evolved from. If a burrowing animal sees it's shadow etc.

Here to help

nice Billy Collins.

Welcome to all the 'new' weekenders. Keep on and keep these days free from alcohol.

Welcome stevepearce, Time Rise, mia83 and VirginiaWoof

Greetings to everyone else

It doesn't seem like we actually had Winter in London, just an extra long Autumn (that's tempting fate isn't it)

I love to see this post, it means the weekend is in site!! Brain, I was thinking of the groundhog throughout this post as well. Living in Southern California, I am quite spoiled with weather, but still excited about an early spring!!

Welcome to new friends, and Steve, congrats on 6 weeks!

Ok, time to get up, still two more days of work to get through, and today is going to be a long one!!!

Happy Thursday everyone!
❤️Delilah

My new favorite fruit! If you have never tried Jack fruit you are missing out. I picked one up from the Asian store. It kinda tastes like a cross between a pineapple and a peach or something. What I didn't know is that to get to the fruit bulbs inside there is a super sticky latex like stuff. It is worth the effort though.

Delicious!

wow that looks like an xray of Marge Simpsons hair...
wife was all excited a few days ago when she came with a couple persimmons.
"We used to grow them back home in our yard..."

well the resume frustration is once again upon me... trying a total do over, use template or not? depends on who you ask, this way or that way... depends on who you ask... there was a space in the site to upload a cover letter...
everybody does it differently it seems... It's kinda like groundhog day. It's a guessing game.

Finishing my oats, walnuts, apple, honey and a bonus of chocolate powder today. Switch the shirts I washed to the dryer, then get to 'work'.

Ha Mesa, beat you to it

I feel your resume and cover letter pain, Brain. I find the resume fairly easy, it's the cover letter that's hard. I got my resume down to about a page and a half. Simply could not do one page. My resume goes back to 1993 - mainly because I had that particular job for 13 years. I started working "real" jobs in 1983. But I think it's ok that the first couple of jobs didn't make the resume - I know age discrimination is illegal and all, but it does happen, and I'm told I look younger than I am, so it's ok that those first 10 years of experience are not on there. I'm with you - why can't I just say - "I can do pretty much anything you throw at me because I'm an intelligent, responsible adult." End of story.

last night I edited my 'cover' letter again. Today it will probably lose another fifty words. The cover letter for me is easier. It's the resume that kicks my butt.
Last thing I want to is to send a "form". I'm trying to figure out the best format to 'upload'. I'll have to leave half of my skill set/experience off it. I'm only using my last 'job' as a reference point. Last night I spoke to a guy who is doing the exact same job I am applying for and said I could use him as a referral for the position. That alone moves me up because there is a 'box' in the online application that asks if someone referred you to this job. Check box and enter name.

Well, my second cup is at the bottom. Time for a refill and head to laundry room.

Brain's tip of the day:

Don't put bras in the washing machine with a knit sweater!

Even on gentle cycle it could get ugly.

Just curious, Brain - is this whole online application process new for you? It is for me. The last time I had to actively look for a job was 1993 - back when there was virtually no internet. I find it extremely frustrating. You are faceless unless you already know someone, like you do. I'm used to being able to drop a resume at the front desk, find out who to call to follow up, impress them on the phone, and get an interview. One of the jobs I applied for about a year ago had me take this test online in order to get past the second tier. It was basically a personality test. To see if you would fit into the corporate culture. I must have flunked it - that was the end of the road for me. I'm sure it was crunched by a computer and if your percentage was too low, you were eliminated. Bull guano.

Marty's tip of the day:
If you're going to wash bras in the washer, get a special bag to put them in before washing. Prevents ugly sweater/bra hook interactions.
