Happiness
Happiness
Only a few things bring happiness: sobriety, a sufficiency (not an excess) of money, a pleasant place to live, and a fondness for helping those who need those things. Everyone, rich or poor, is given sunsets, flowers in the Spring, Autumn leaves, dogs, cats and other friendly animals who teach us how to live.

P.S. These keys to happiness were known by the ancients. Aristotle as to the happy medium or mean (but there is no happy medium when it comes to sobriety), Lao Tzu (the Tao Te Ching) when it comes to doing things one step at time, one day at a time, foreswearing possessions (the "ten thousand things") and in Hindu philosophy, coming to realize the illusory character of the "self" (for if the "self" is only an illusion, nothing vanishes on death, the body being also an illusion (the Bhagavad Gita)). The Chinese for thousands of years as to dogs, horses-looking into their eyes one may see Love.
We live in a culture of "self" ("selfie"), greed, money (pieces of paper!).The results are all too obvious. "Me"- not "You". "Have, get" not "Help". "Give". Guns, not Peace, Anger, not Love.
