Hi Sober32,
There are a ton of great people on this site that have been through similar challenges and will be happy to help you.
What do you mean by "slow down?" Do you have any medical support for this first day?
I'm glad you found us.

Welcome and you're not alone.
Being a full-time parent to two children is a tough job, but what a great opportunity to be with your children as they are growing up. I'm sure you will feel more 'present' as a parent when you put down the drugs and alcohol. We do understand how hard this is, but there is lots of support here.

Just let my drinking mate know i going to have a solid crack at absence.
I get liver function tests quite often and a couple markers are always high.
My brother died of alcoholism, i dont want to end up like that. I should use his lost life as a sign for guidance.
I have no medication but generally only get mild anxiety when withdrawing. Normally I have some Valium about but not atm.
I only had a bottle and a half of wines yesterday so im not expecting to bad a withdrawals..

Hi Sober 32,
I'm a fellow Aussie and previous wine drinker.
I'm still new at this but congratulations on taking that first step towards sobriety.
I've found so much encouragement and support here from the SR community.

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

So.... What happened with your previous attempts to quit? Do you know why they didn't stick? Have you tightened up your plan so that you can make it happen this time?
How can the people here help you? What do you need that you've been lacking in order to succeed?

Hi I am 34 as well and my demon was drinking. I have a child as well . Im on day 3 and still feeling withdrawal especially aches, nausea and major irritability. But Ive gone longer before so I know it can happen and at this point i need to go way longer until I am completely done. I find hope in reading that others have done it ive always been a strong person somehow so i know I can. You will to...Must think of our family and ourselves because without ourselves we cant be there for them.,,

Thanks guys for the words of encouragement.
I just went and got some Baclofen which is great for removing cravings.
Been a while since ive used it and I had forgotten how handy it can be in those first couple days.

I'm also a fellow Aussie, and only 8 days into my recovery. Massive wine/champagne drinker. You've made the first step by posting here, and there is so much support here to help you through. You can do this... You deserve to be healthy again X
Don't give up. The way I start was with no alcohol in my home. Coming here SR I went to counseling and AA. And other form of support group and now have over 2years the people here are my biggest supporters.
