At over 6 months, I still miss it occasionally...

until I remember all the suffering that comes with it.

The missing it is getting less and less as time goes on and I find more things to appreciate about being sober.

Things will never be the same .......

I'm grateful that many negative, bad
things in my life are not the same from
the past. I wouldn't want them to be the
same that would keep me sick in my
addiction and life.

You'd want things to change for the
better in your life. Your healthy, work,
family, finances, relationships.

Toxins, poisons, drugs, alcohol, pills,
all add fuel to a fire already burning
wildly, destroying everything in our
paths of life.

Getting rid of all that poison, negativity,
and change for clean, clear, positivity,
in all areas of our life for the better.

It wont happen over night, but with
a positive outlook in our hearts, minds
and soul, we will see many things in
our lives brighter, healthier to enjoy
for many days down the road.

I'm a work in progress and so are you.

Stay strong and positive as you move
forward in your new life in recovery.

A never ending journey with gratitude.

This is what I need to focus on! Positivity! At 11 days sober, things haven't changed much, but I know that this is not long in the grand scheme of things. I keep up with life and appearances even when drinking, I just generally do it while feeling crummy, so I'm not seeing massive differences. I'm a bit concerned with a few things that have popped up on my calendar in the next few months... a night out with my husband, and a vacation with my family in the spring. Both are events where I would normally drink. I'm hoping with some time under my belt by then it wont be an issue, but I am going to try and prepare myself in advance. I have not done much "work" in regards to being sober yet. I need to change that. I'm going to start with trying to schedule some appointments with a counselor. I tried to back in December, but never finalized anything. I am hopeful, I am happy, but I am also very weary of my self and my determination to stay sober. I want to. It would be nice. But right now I feel I am lacking that PASSION and DRIVE and DETERMINATION to push it long term. Do you need those things to succeed? Why am I not more motivated? Why do I only desperately want to be sober FOREVER when I am actively drinking? So many questions. lol I guess I am absolutely still a work in progress. Feeling a little "hungover" of sorts today, so that may have something to do with my mediocre mood! Hopefully I'll have a peppier update in the near future!!

congrats on 11 days Pinot-you're doing great

As others have said, it's normal to miss it. You will have these feelings o n and off for months but they will pass and lessen as time goes on. just because you have a feeling doesn't mean you have to act on it. It will get easier.
