I see alcohol as a sickness and some of us have made a very long career at becoming sicker, in short it takes time for the body to heal and get better, some father than others but the good news is we will get better one day at a time. may be big changes maybe be small but it will happen, there are so many factors and we are all a little different it makes it impossible to say for certain on what day how one should feel, just my opinion and experience.

Welcome to the Forum Aquatundra!!

If like me you drank for years, it's going to take more than a few days for the body to adjust and heal, but hang in there as it will get better!!

My first month was pretty rough if that's what you mean...I drank to function...taking the drink away was like losing limbs.

I just had to have the faith that everyone here wasn't lying to me and things really would get better,

Noone lied to me

I think in looking back, I was getting better slowly all the time but it is a huge emotional thing to quit drinking. Every emotion seems really overwhelming. That part sort of came and went for a couple months.

It was just uncomfortable to have to figure out ways to cope with emotions that I had been numbing for quite some time - plus the physical neurological problems that were created and had to heal.

I had some pretty tough days, psychologically. It gets better! Hang on.
