Checking in - here we go

Hello fam and happy holidays, x-mas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, etc.

My husband is picking up my family from the airport right now. My house is spotless, the fridge is full and the liquor cabinet is full too.

I am a little bit anxious about having all these people spending the night and about that dynamic between my mother and my mother-in-law with my daughter. They are definitely going to ask me to make some drinks for them since I used to be a bartender and we have a full bar right now...

I am going to stay extra close, even if I don't post I will be reading a lot. I can't wait to wake up in the morning feeling great.

There's no way I'm going to drink.

I hope my mother is supportive and doesn't hurt my feelings by offering me drinks.

You guys will be with me.

Not drinking alcohol right alongside of you. Strength to all! I look forward to reading everyone's "next morning" sober stories!

You can do this Nowsthetime. Keep playing it forward in your mind of everything you are accomplishing by not drinking.

Way to go and stay strong!

I wouldn't want to have to make people drinks or have a liquor cabinet full of booze this Christmas.

Oh, I could do it and not drink, but I wouldn't feel good and would surely have to face uncomfortable emotions.

I wish you strength and peace despite the dynamics of family and holidays and prevalent drinking. You can do it. Have a clear exit strategy if you find yourself edgy or confronted with sobriety-threatening emotions or thoughts.

Glad you posted - we will be here! I completely understand where you are coming from. We have hosted 3 parties this season at our home where alcohol was involved.

Since your mom is supportive, maybe she wouldn't mind mixing, or just have everyone help themselves? Just an idea if it gets too difficult. Your resolve sounds great- have a good time and an amazing hangover-free morning!
