2016 a better year
2016 a better year
Well I started here and quit drinking last January. Made it about 90days before thinking yeah a drink won't hurt. Long story short, do to career change, marriage troubles, etc....I became a daily drinker again. At least it wasn't bad like before. But now I feel that guilt of when I do drink, and have been for a while now. So I really don't want alcohol anymore, I have been telling friends and family, that it's really time to remove this from my life. So starting sooner than the New Year, I know today is the day to make the commitment again.
Yes it's a good day to start today!
You did 90 days and that's great. You know you can do it. And, now you know you can't drink normally so when your AV speaks up, try to ignore it.

Glad you made it bk MyShadow

Good deal. You know it's real when you say TODAY. The sooner you start, the better 2016 is going to be for you.
Miya a nasty addiction. It sets in grip and never lets go. It's strength is fueled by alcohol. The only way to weaken the grip is to stop feeding it.
Good for you for taking your life back. Thank you for sharing your story. It's an important reminder for those, like myself, with some sober time racked up.
We cannot forget that once we drink, we will inevitably end up on our knees begging God for mercy again. The only way to avoid alcohols destructive nature is to not drink at all.
Not only do we avoid utter destruction by staying sober, we also build.

One of the biggest things is focus on myself. I was very outward focused last time. I had a full head of steam, but focused my attention toward others and situations that had me drinking so much. So that didn't work, and the issues were still there. I fell into a coldness, negative attitude and pushed back at everything instead of embracing the moments as tests and working around them. Basically I was a jerk most of the time.
Now being the highly manipulative drunk I am/was (ish) does making the commitment today mean you quit today or just at a point your stating your commitment to quit before the New Year??!
Probably my brain overthinking - glad you're here posting friend!
Hope today is indeed day one............Welcome back!
Great!

I hope that 2016 will be a good year for us all. I am so proud of you and you are a great encouragement for us all. Yesterday was my last day I smoked pot. It is hard to quit and go through withdrawals again, but I need to as it is sucking the life out of me. My dog Benji deserves better then mummy spending money on pot, when I need that money to live on.
You made it 90 days. I know you can succeed. Good luck and Happy Holidays.
