Hi everyone
New here, just on my 2nd day completely sober but have been off cocaine for 2 weeks now which was the biggest issue. Decided I want to stay sober and have seeked professional help too.
I just wanted to ask how you dealt with trying to sleep at night in the early stages of recovery?
I am finding this difficult as I'd usually fall asleep using alcohol/ weed to knock me out and just seem to have lots of thoughts racing through my mind.
Thanks for any advice!

Welcome to SR, daniel.
Sleep was definitely sporadic in the early times. It took a few weeks but it eventually normalized.
Your body is undergoing a major adjustment and is healing; hang tight; sobriety is worth the temporary discomfort.
Glad you found us.

Welcome, Daniel
Sleep wasn't the best early on for me. Many of us went through an early phase in which sleep wasn't regular.
Eventually, I was able to sleep soundly again, and fall asleep easily, and sleep eight hours. We are all different though.
One thing that really helps is to start getting regular exercise. And make sure you are hydrated (drink water).

Thanks for the replies
Exercise and staying hydrated sounds like a good idea. I have been sort of locking myself away in my room these last couple of days, just seem to be very irritable aswell so not very nice for my family to be around
Dr. Jeffrey Thompson is a genius with music that aids in falling asleep. I have been using it for years and highly recommend him. You can download his stuff online.
I also read a lot. I used to love comic books as a kid and it is amazing the graphic novels and such that they release now on Ipads and other Ereaders. I wanted to read things for pure enjoyment, not self help books or anything. I hope you find something that works for you ASAP!
