I'm new - I'm a supportive Friend
Hi everybody,
I'm new to this forum, so I just wanted to introduce myself. I joined this forum to help my friend who is newly on the path to sobriety. I'm not a drinker.... so I want to be the best friend I can be, supporting him on his journey. I hope there is a place for people such as I, on this forum.

Welcome!
It's good that you want to help your friend. You may find that the Friends and Family Forum here is a good place to share insights.
Please keep in mind that sometimes helping a friend with an addiction may include letting them fail. It can be sometimes too easy to get into a co-dependent relationship with an addict. Al-anon is another source of support for friends and family.

friendlysha,
Welcome, it is great that you want to support your friend in his newfound sobriety. As a non-drinker, you have the makings of a good support person.
"Friends and Family of Alcoholics" is the most focused forum for you, but you can gain great insight by visiting others.
Just always remember the 3 "C"s ....."it" = addiction to alcohol or drugs:
"You didn't Cause it, you can't Control it and you can't Cure it."
The only way your friend will find and keep his sobriety, is by him wanting sobriety more than another drink.
One day at a time,
Jim

Welcome! You're a good friend
Yep, Friends & Family is great but here is good too. It'll probably give you a good insight into what goes on in the mind of an addict
Glad to have you here!
