Just joined

Hi Everyone,

I have just registered and would like to introduce myself.

I have been drinking too much, for too long and now I have had enough. I don't get drunk anymore, I just spend money I don't have and buy and drink alcohol everyday to the point where every morning I throw up and feel miserable.

I have been repeating this cycle over and over for nearly 25 years.

I know if I continue I will eventually die a horrible death and people will say "why didn't he just stop drinking ?"

So I am here to see what I can do about that.

Today is a positive day, I don't have any alcohol in the house and wont be buying any either, so I am drinking cuppa soup (Tomato) instead.

It aint so bad.

Welcome to SR, Autanic; you'll find an abundance of support, encouragement and understanding here.

Glad you found us.

Hope that you find sobriety as rewarding as I do.

I hope so too. There is a lot to get through here, I feel like I have just walked into a class that started last semester and I am the new boy.

Please dont flush my head down the toilet.

Nope it aint so bad... and it actually gets better. I find that having something in the house that I like to drink (craft root beer for me) makes it a bit easier. But by no means is this journey an easy one. Ive started this journey a few times now. Hoping this time it sticks. Good luck.

I was driving home from the Gym and was about to do my usual swing by the supermarket to pick up something for the evening and I felt this force just making me a different way home.

It was like my body was telling me, enough lad, enough.

I have tried to stop a few time, but kept falling off the wagon. I do not like the whole AA thing, in fact the last time I gave up, it was my experience at AA that made me want to think about drinking again.

This time I am just going to take it nice and slow at my own pace, no pressure, no expectations, just going to breeze through each day until I no longer think about drinking.

Welcome to SR. Don't feel so bad many newbies here. Me included. Day 08 for me.

I have found sprakling water or seltzer water work great. I mix juice with them. A really nice treat at the end of the day. I've some koolaid to try later.

Lots of support here. We even have meetings on Tuesday and Friday at 900 pm EST. Come join us.

No need to feel that way Autanic because most of us here take things one day at a time (me included)

Welcome to SR

You may already know this but there is also a Class of October 2015 thread as well for people stopping now

Good luck in your recovery

Hi Autanic - we're so glad you are here.

Definitely no flushing of heads will occur. I felt the same when I first came stumbling in here, but I quickly felt like family. We understand each other like no one else can. You can get free and have a whole new life. Keep talking to us.

Glad you are here--flush free zone by the way

Post plenty in the beginning when you feel cravings and we can help talk through them.

You can do it!
