Is it normal to....
Walk out of an AA meeting in early recovery... craving alcohol?! Im trying to get my head round it ... Im not sure Im supposed to feel like that!!! Don't worry I WILL not give in to the AV. Im gonna practice my guitar instead (practice badly mind you but practice all the same!)
Yep - in my experience it definitely is normal. In early days when we go to a meeting, it forces us to think about drinking-related stuff. That can then trigger the cravings. For me that phase didn't last long. I hope it doesn't for you, either!
that's where the meeting after the meeting can be helpful....stick around, help put chairs away, talk to other recovering alcoholics, go grab coffee, enjoy sober time with sober folks..................
I've heard that about SR in the past too, people seeing alcohol everywhere they go.
I guess though the benefits of support greatly outweigh the disadvantages of being isolated, and as already mentioned this phase passes!!
Have a great practice!!
