Reunion for November 2014 class

Hi All,
I know I wasn't around for few months and GroundHogDay & PeaceHappiness have held down the class, thanks

It is just the three of us now and if you were thinking of coming back, maybe you've been lurking, it would be great to hear what you've been up to.
I've had my ups and downs but am looking forward now with a few more tools, along with acceptance of whom I am and how I've come to be this way.
There is a tough road ahead, but I think it is worth it.
Hopefully I hear from some long lost friends, you all know where the classroom is

Magellan -- I think this is a great post, hope you get some responses from old friends from it.

You might consider joining in and actively participating in the One Year and Under thread as well. As my own Class has started to dwindle down a little, I've found myself relying more and more on "the Undies" for support.

Thanks for posting this, Magellan. Giving it a bump.

Class threads are great. They are a smaller set of people who can get to know you and your particular struggles with sobriety really well.

Glad your back Angd1978, you had done very well in the past, especially with being a teacher, my wife use to teach (k & 1st) and her stress levels were always through the roof.

Yeah, acceptance is a biggie.
That photo of Bill Murray with the groundhog driving is brilliant...I don't remember that in the movie.
Good luck with the reunion :-)

That scene was part of a montage in the middle of the movie, so it was easy to miss.

The movie encapsulates so much about recovery. It shows how we need to change our attitudes and take actions that are in synch with being a good person in life, not just stop drinking. Only with that level of fulfillment, peace, and acceptance, do we avoid " white knuckling" our way through sobriety. Although I am not a member of AA, I assume the steps help people to achieve those life changes. Other people seek therapy/counseling to make those life changes.

Nice post!

This evening, I posted in my class thread. Like others classes, ours has grown smaller in number but we are doing well. I didn't join SR until two months into sobriety so I wasn't there at the start. I dug back to the earliest threads. Here's part of what I shared tonight:

"Interestingly, as I looked over the earliest posts, I saw encouraging welcomes from members of earlier classes. Their names are all familiar; they've become some of the sober veterans. It struck me that in and of itself attests powerfully to the value our classes offer those seeking a new life in sobriety."

Joining my SR class was the wisest thing I've done since becoming part of this community, though I didn't realize it at the time. I hope our newcomers take full advantage of this wonderful asset SR offers. The shared growth, accountability and support are uniquely valuable.

That's a great analogy, Groundhog. I'll remember that :-)
