It's my bday and I'll be sober
Having people over at my farm.
They will drink, I won't.
They will get loud and crazy, I won't.
They will be hungover , I won't.
Some might not remember the night. I will!!!
Happy birthday to me!
I have given myself the gift of sobriety!!!!

jealous of your farm for starters! its a dream of mine to get a farm someday.
my 21st birthday was a drunk festival. i started first thing in the morning and went all day drinking my brains out. It ended with vodka shots on top of i dunno how many beers About 10 shots in i was staggering I puked doritos all over the wall and slept in a puddle of my own vomit.
It coulda been such a nice birthday but I ruined it and the next day as soon as i walked otu side and the sunshine hit me I promptly ran back inside and puked some more.
moral of the story? dont drink on your birthday or anyday.

Recently you posted about how your husband wants you to drink. I am wondering if you have a plan in place to stay away from the alcohol in your own environment with a bunch of drinkers around>>??? Do you have an exit strategy from your own party?
Not trying to be the downer but for me at a year I was concerned about being around a potentially disastrous situation recently. I am sure you'll be fine, but an ounce of prevention.........

As time went on in my own recovery, I
realized that I don't have to and didn't
have to place myself in situations, any
kind of situation, no matter what it was,
that would make me feel uncomfortable,
uneasy, stressful or putting my sobriety
in jeopardy.
When I realize that no one will care
less if I drank or not or that Im in recovery
or not, working a program of recovery
or not, other than me.
I live a fun happy life free of stress
or lifes complicated situation to the
best of my sober ability, to be healthy
enough to enjoy life.
No one will come between what means
too much to me, what keeps me sober.
My recovery program and life because
it is the ultimate, most rewarding gift
I can give to myself everyday.
I had the choice to choose what I
wanted to do for my birthday and
it didn't include being around alcohol
or loud obnoxious folks.
A nice breakfast, lunch or dinner out
along with being outside if nice for a
walk, ride, gardening, or just sitting
in my comfortable chair watching what
I want to watch, my favorite ice cream,
a nice bath, comfy night cloths or a spitz
of a favorite cologne.
Simple peace and quiet with no worry.
What an awesome gift for anyone to
enjoy.
Of course this would be my birthday
as I am sure many have their own takes
on what or how they would spend their
special day. Whatever it is, being sober
is a wonderful gift to give ourselves.
Happy Birthday..!!!!!

Thanks everyone!!!
I understnd were you are coming from...
We go to our property every weekend. So we are just doing a regular thing and some of our friends are just going to join us there. My exit plan is going to bed and I will also have SR are available in my phone. I have been in many parties since I decided to sober up so I'm really not concerned with temptation. I'm really stubborn and one of the "friends" that made fun of me at the beginning (I even posted here about it) is going to be there so I am 100% confident. There's no way I'm drinking with this goober.
I'm also alright with my husband. We had a talk and I believe it's going to be ok. It's pretty cyclical and it's not yet time for him to be an a$$ again yet. I will hang out and enjoy the initial conversation, play with the firepit. I will also have to get my daughter to bed so as usual, she will be my focus.
Happy bday to me!!!
