Best way to tell others no
Hi
What are some good ways to say no to people who want you to drink? I work in business and happy hours are good for networking. I would like to go and not drink but people are always trying to encourage you to drink. Just have one etc. What are some techniques to still go have a nice time and not drink?

No thank you, i'm good. Or "I'll have a diet coke". I'd probably not do after work functions for a bit. Then test it out slowly, leaving if you get at all uncomfortable. If you do go, make sure you order your own drink.
If you're not okay with "I don't drink anymore" or they won't accept that I go with:
I can't, I'm driving
I started a new diet and drinking isn't part of it
I have to be up extra early tomorrow
etc.

I'd take happy hour off the table for the time being. The sense of needing to belong or feeling awkward not drinking can be stressful.
What about looking into other networking options? Maybe a women's business group that meets at lunch?
