Today is my 30th birthday
Hi guys,
I'm somewhat new to the forum as in I've never posted here before and
English isn't my native language so take it easy on me
I hope to find some support and words of encouragement on here this is my second attempt at quitting drinking, my first attempt lasted for 3 years up until I fell off the wagon hard 2 years ago. Ever since that moment It all spiralled out of control.
I could go into details about how my life has turned into such a sorry state but I won't since we've all been there and know what it is like.
The thing that really made me want to quit drinking was my dad having a cancer scare combined with the fact that I woke up the next morning lying face down in a puddle of vomit in my own garden having almost made it to the back door and having absolutely no idea how I got there or what the h*ll even happened.
I'm going to put the focus on the future from now on, I don't want anything to do with alcohol anymore. It really is a destroyer of lives in my opinion
I'm on my second day of being sober now and even though it is an excruciating process I don't think I've ever been happier.
Stay strong guys

Hi and welcome Slash.
The process of not drinking is simple tho not always easy.
The bottom line is we don’t have the first drink one day at a time in a row so we won’t have to try to get sober AGAIN.
This site has loads of info on how to do it, like exercise, keeping booze out of the living quarters, not hanging with drinking friends, staying away from bars and on and on.
Many people join AA which has helped millions get sober along with other methods.
BE WELL

First of all, happy birthday!
Secondly, welcome!
I've been on this site a while and despite a very recent lapse, I must say that having a plan in place to help with this journey is helping me a lot. I attend AA meetings and visit this forum. I really recommend having a look round and getting as involved as you want as I've got some great insight and advice from here!

Happy Birthday and welcome slash. You've joined a great community and team here at SR.
In the early days, it helped me tremendously to be on SR as much as possible. Read as many old threads as you can and post often.
Also, make a plan and stick to it. Incorporate how you are going to stay sober and adjustments you will make in your life to accomplish your plan.
Bottom line, just don't drink. You will feel better and better with time. it's' not easy, but so worth every ounce of effort you put into it. You won't regret being sober tomorrow!
Stay strong and lean on this community as often as you can.
