5 weeks - still got a long way to go

Well, today is five weeks without alcohol. I'm happy, but I know I've still got a long way to go. I've got those pesky thoughts creeping into my head whenever I see my friends booze pictures on Facebook or see people casually enjoying a drink on TV. I know that's normal and I do what I can to remember why I'm not going to be part of that, but it's frustrating. Trying not to let it get me down.

The worst is that I've been having terrible dreams. Dreams where I drink and then do awful stuff while I'm drunk. Probably nothing all that far off from things I really have done while drinking, but it scares the living **** out of me when I wake up. I have to remind myself that it didn't really happen, that I really have kept up my promise to stay sober for myself and my health and my sanity.

I haven't been on here as much as I should be, either. I need to recommit to using this great resource and to reminding myself that while life not drinking isn't always so easy, it's a LOT easier than life with drinking was.

So today I'm grateful for my sobriety. I feel healthier and, though this post might not reflect it, happier than I have in a while. Hope you are all having a great day!

5 weeks sobriety is great. I think dreams like that are common in early recovery. I'm glad you plan on using SR more often.

Glad you're here KeepTruckin~
5 weeks is a great start!

You really do not have a long way to go - we all have the same time frame to stay sober = just today. For today I will do the things necessary to stay sober regardless of "how" I feel. Because I know it does not matter how I feel any one day......good or bad - this too shall pass!

Keep coming back and keep posting!
