Gratitude - With Thanks
I wanted to send a big Thank You to all of you here. I got through a family gathering yesterday without drinking and am on my way to the next one feeling confident. These are full of triggers I would have succumbed to previously. It is through support gained from others on the same path that I can do this.
With gratitude,
Rosalia

I managed to get through the second gathering. I am pleased with myself - my head is clear and I feel good today. Yesterday I stuck close to a sister in law who doesn't drink, and another one who drinks rarely. It was easier being with them.
I am beginning to think this may be possible, that I might start to believe that I can live in total sobriety, that people in my family will accept it, and that I can live in peace.
Driving home yesterday through snow in the dark, white-knuckling it on the highway, while my drunken family members nodded their heads and stank of booze, gave me time to really think. I hate what alcohol does to people who drink too much of it. That was me - it was an hour or so of realization of that I must have been like that too. It saddened me. It was an hour of introspection that I won't soon forget.
