Unhappy Anxiety Is Amped

I'm losing on this front. It's no longer 'out there' but in my body now.

I feel physically ill. Is there anything I can do or take? Breathing is no longer helping.

I'm in court again this week. I have nothing to look forward to, and if I look back I'l be depressed

Breathing will help, stick with it. Slow your breaths. Inhale through your nose and allow your stomach to plump up, then exhale slowly through your mouth.

Go for a walk, listen to music, play with a pet, have fun with your child, anything that can take your mind off the stress.

Are you eating well? B Vitamins help with stress and anxiety.

Hang in there Stratman, you can get through this.

I know what you're going through. I agree that breathing is important and helpful. Agree also on the B vitamins, especially thiamine (B1) as it helps with GABA which is one of the neurotransmitters that calms your nervous system.

Also meditating really helps over time but you have to stick to it. How long have you been sober? It's takes a while for the anxiety to naturally fade, as your neurotransmitters reach homeostasis again, but it does happen.

Hang in there!

Sometimes when I feel anxious or like everything is out of control, I will empty a clothes drawer or two and re-organize them, or do the same with a closet; it gives me the feeling that I have control over something and lessens anxiety.

I have found meditation really helps

If you have a smartphone you can download some great apps like "Breath"

Also, reading and educating yourself about anxiety also really really helps.

Are you able to go for a brisk, and I mean brisk!, walk? Any kind of intense exercise, if you can do it, helps release the good brain juju and can be a helpful distraction.

I gotta co-sign on this right here.

Ten minutes into my daily cardio I feel the anxiety literally melt away. It comes back in the afternoon so in the early evening I do more cardio! I actually split my workout into two sections now because of this.

The anxiety is just waiting for me to open my eyes in the morning so it can say "good morning sunshine!". If I don't exercise it just stays in the pit of my stomach all day. A big challenge in my sobriety, but its part of the journey. It actually became really pronounced around my 90 day mark come to think of it!

Good luck Strat!

Court is stressful, so I empathise with you Stratman.

Exercise really helps me, but if it's really bad right now maybe you need to consider seeing a Dr?

Sorry to hear your stressin Strat. Court will do that.

If I get really stressed or anxious I do something to wear myself down, which usually means running on my treadmill until I'm pooped. Like really wiped out. Its sounds silly, but it works for me.

Maybe some Moby will help? This album tends to relax me.

Could do with some new music strategery actually. Got some B vitamins anyway and took a brisk walk.

I hear you about the exercise Justin, was in a good routine before but my insomnia is making it difficult. That's worsening also.

Trying just to pacify my mind for now. Gonna try and meditate then do some housework. Another long day ahead, I'l probably pass out later on.
