Running with Scissors
Running with Scissors
Some Sunday food for thought about how progressive our drinking and drugging can become.... Stay strong today!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I like running with scissors. Gives me a rush when I live on the edge like that.
But how far from the truth is it really?
My addictions are only a misstep away from impaling me.
The risks are mine to bear.
So what made it obvious to me that maybe this will all turn out very very terribly?
Could it be when I turned in the scissors for a hunting knife?
By then I was a sprinter!
But oh no.... I wasn't done there. I leaned how to do hurdles with a machete!
Right there.... right there is real talent!
Oddly....I kept pace and rhythm enough to keep all of the important appendages.
But there it was up ahead..... The finish line....the race could be won.... Won by a psycho machete wielding hurdler......
But then something happened. Something big.....
I inexplicably stopped before I crossed that line. I stopped running. I laid down the machete. I looked around. And I walked away.
No one wins this race I thought. No one.

We used to skydive while on acid, with a beer for the ride up.
I feel ya, man. Feet on ground for me these days.
In all fairness, I didn't know the orange juice was spiked with acid, but those were the dumb things I did. A few beers on a hot day mixed with jumping out of an airplane is pretty far out on that crazy limb.

wow... skydiving on acid. Never did that.
Surfing in dangerous conditions on shrooms.... yeah. But skydiving on acid, never.
I'm OK with never having tried that.
And these days, surfing is joyful, blissful and beautiful just pure and sober as the universe and spirit intended it.
Oh, the things we missed while we believed we were experiencing.....
Thank our Higher Power we survived.

OOOoooo, that sounds interesting!
Years ago, sitting in the woods, with a group of LSD afflicted people, I noticed one staring intently into the distance. "Lee, what are you doing?" I asked. "Just watching the trees sway in the wind," he answered. "Lee, there isn't any wind."
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"
I can be totally honest on here. And if discussion of drugs triggers you, run.
I love mind altering drugs. LSD, mushrooms, peyote...love it. I used to drink mescal for the affects. Hail Monte Alban!
Strangely enough, I quit drugs before booze for a really odd reason. When drugged, I would remember everything insane that I did. Blackout drunk, I didn't.
Great Caeser's Ghost, the things I did. You've heard of losing your mind? Try losing your body.
