Whoops, I did it again!

It would be funny if it wasn't so tragic! I've cut back on alcohol the last few days. Plan to finally phone GP tomorrow morning. Had a convo with son that was heart breaking. He told me how he feels and that things are hard to bare. Says he has to deal with the worry of me dying on top of the every day struggles of exams and stuff. I thought I did a good job as I never fall about drunk, keep a good home etc. Terrified I've done some serious damage, I have some worrying symptoms and will be lucky if I get out unscathed but I'm gonna face this head on starting with my GP tomorrow.

Hi Funtime.
Interesting stage name for the circumstances. Don’t we wish.

I don’t feel I can make suggestions for you that will work unless you want them to as after 7 months you probably have read most already.

It’s action time or settle back into the misery of continued drinking, it will never get better.
Just try to remember that it’s the first drink that gets us drunk, no ifs, ands or buts.

BE WELL

Good luck at the doctor!

The tittle of your Thread seems to minimize what Alcohol is to you. See it as it is, serious business. Booze is poison to the human body, and we problematic drinkers poor gallons of the stuff in our body in a futile attempt for a temporary buzz. If you had taken arsenic would you go "whoops"?

I don't mean to be harsh, just trying to shake you in a positive way. Don't wait for the doctor to tell you your liver is permanently damaged to take your recovery seriously.

Good luck friend!

Yes, the name is quite fitting, I love the irony! Thanks, it's all about that first drink for sure. I have far more willpower before the first drink but convince myself it will only be a couple. I can't have one or just two and I know this!

Thank you. That's just me trying to make light of what I know is a terrible and frightening situation and I am scared. It's so silly to keep drinking I know. I watched a documentary where this poor girl drank herself to death and she still refused to believe she had a problem. The denial is diabolical and I don't wanna be one of those people sitting in the hospital wondering why I did not stop sooner and putting my loved ones through pain but the denial I'm in is ridiculous at times. One minute I'm clear and can see things for what they are and the next it's like I never realised in the first place.

Hi, Franky.

Hope all goes well at the doctor's tomorrow. Be brutally honest so that you can make your recovery a true and successful partnership.

A better way is out there for you and it can be fun, really fun.

Let us know how it goes.

Yes Franky, it's always the first one that gets us, isn't it? Until I figured out and accepted that it wasn't the eighth drink that got me in trouble but the very first one I was doomed to repeat my mistakes. Be completely honest with your doctor and good luck.

Hi Franky, I hope your visit to the dr went well.

I think that, even though we try/hope that we keep the worst from our children, we don't. I'm sorry your son is worried about you, but hopefully you will be able to ease his fears.
