37 years old, end stage liver disease, died today.
Something to think about.
My 37 year old friend was diagnosed with end stage liver disease about three weeks ago. He was put into a medically induced coma two weeks ago, but died this afternoon. God bless him.
He drank too much, just like me.. But he paid a higher price.
If you crave a drink this weekend, re read this post. This is what alcohol really does. His family and children are destroyed.
Next week I'm getting my liver checked.

Thank you for sharing. I am really sorry to hear this and it is very sad. How much did this person actually drink? Sometimes I wonder if the people who pass away were "heavy" drinkers but how heavy? It's just scary because you never know what is going on with the liver... and the weirdest thing is that there are people who drink their whole lives and live to be old and never have liver problems. Color me confused!
Again, sorry to hear about this and I'm sure there are others on here who can offer support better than me. I have not dealt with a liver related death. Sometimes alcoholism seems like a slow form of suicide...

Sorry for your friends family - so avoidable but so often this story is repeated. Posted the same tragic outcome to a friend recently.
It is truly a gift for all of us who are here and have the opportunity to change our outcome,perhaps......
prayers for the loved ones and those who have been lost

That pretty sad to hear, however its a shame we have to go through that before we get sober. Sometimes we have to find the hard way out before we wake up. Sometimes it can be to late.
I am sorry that it had to come this way, your friend is in a better place and now you can learn from it and live your life sober.
