Hi Peoples - Day 2 and really hoping for infinity
Welcome Calicofish and congratulations on 1 year. I was a bit confused there didn't know if you had 4 days sobriety or 1 year. I only thought that for a second or was that a year? (smiley). You are sober and that's all that counts.
I am going to bump this thread again on Feb. 24, 2017.

Hi Calicofish, now I get it. I'm a newbie to forums so bumping a thread was out of my sewing basket. Blush. Congratulations on one year and going through many trials and remaining sober. I'm 2 months and wouldn't change it for the world. Thanks.
The only way from day 2 to infinity is day 3. Just get through today without drinking. Tomorrow will take care of itself.
Your dog will want you to be sober during her last days/weeks/months. She wont want to look up at you staring into an empty glass, or bottle, or getting mad when she wants to go outside but you dont feel like getting up.
She will want you to take her for a walk, or play with her favorite toy, or just sit together while you read a book. She will want to curl up next to you without having you have to get up to use the bathroom every 10 minutes because you drank that much. She will want you to smile at her when you wake up, instead of frown because of a nasty hangover.
Be the person your dog thinks you are. Be there for her like she is always there for you.
My dog's life is coming to an end (my first pet) due to his cancer being back. Might be next week, might be next year, we dont know. All I know is that today, I will stay sober, and treat him like he has loved me from the start. A lot of people say that dogs take their pain away, but I think that works both ways. The owner takes the dogs pain away when the dog is sick because that is all they want is to be with you and enjoy the day with you. And THAT to them makes them feel better.
Keep going. Day2 will turn into week 2 and month 2... just stay sober today.

Hi Jryan:
I bumped an old post of mine from last year - and thanks for the encouragement. I really appreciate it.
I absolutely was sober for the passing of my sweet dog. I held her in my arms when she drew her first breath and when she drew her last.
Warmly,
CF

Oh man I didn't even notice. I'm sorry about the passing of your dog. I'm sure she appreciated you being sober! That is awesome! Great job! Good for you. She'll be there at the end of the rainbow bridge waiting for you.
