Day 2 complete, INSOMNIA!
Day 2 now complete.
Cravings pretty bad, tend to think about drinking every ten minutes or so. My bed is soaked from sweat and I have insomnia big time. It's passed midnight and I have to be up in five hours for work.. I just need sleep but can't drop off. Luckily there are only two working days left of this week, and I guess I will be coming out of withdrawal by Monday.?
I've drank every day for over 12 years, and a bottle of vodka a day for the last 18 months. It's not going to be easy but I'm not turning back now.

Insomnia is pretty common - but it gets better...so will the cravings

Hi Crasfd, I believe many of us have suffered insomnia for the first few days. I used melatonin and any relaxation techniques I could find that I thought would work. Tough it out at work the next couple days and you have the whole weekend to really get straightened out and ramped up for next week. Great job on day 2.
Crasfd - OMG the first week sleeping was the pits - ended up using some Tyelnol PMs - second week was better and then about week 3 it got a lot better and now (only 8 weeks out) I'm sleeping crazy good. I mean not only being able to fall asleep but really good restful sleep. Push through this part and you will never have to again. A bottle of vodka every day is so bad for you.
Hang in there and I hope you're sleep gets better - it will get better just hang in there.

Sleep, Sleep, Sleep. 40 days tomorrow and I still get the insomnia most days during the week. Benadryl used to knock me out, not anymore. Some nights are better than others. That's what's in the PM meds. Hope it will work for you.

I feel so positive about things now. I will wait a couple of weeks then get my liver checked. It's had a severe battering over the years.
My friend is in an induced coma at the moment with end stage liver disease. Not nice at all and the prognosis is very very poor for him.
Alcohol is pure poison.

Yeah, I had insomnia the 1st 2 nights. No sleep. I was half asleep, but woke up every 10 minutes with cold sweat and weird nightmares. And on the 3rd day, I slept. So much better once I got that 6 hours of real sleep. Now I'm back to 8. Benydryl worked for me too, but melatonin is what I'm switching to. The gym helps the most though.
