Not giving up.

New here.

I've been in and out of recovery for the past three years. My drugs of choice are primarily opiates and crystal meth but I've compulsively abused anything and everything that will get me high. I was in rehab for a month and left a little over a week ago and relapsed on meth and was drinking heavily up until yesterday.

What happened yesterday is I was planning on using heroin again("just one more time"). I was in a car with a group of people to go get it. The person who was driving was high and made an illegal U-turn and we got t-boned by an on-coming car. No one was injured. But everyone in the car but me got arrested for either having drugs on them or having a warrant. If that wasn't a sign that I'm not meant to die a junkie or a tweaker, I don't know what is.

So here I am, asking for help. I'm at my mom's house alone for the day and I'm scared that im going to use again. But I know if I dont pick it up, I dont have to put it down. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to SR, younginrecovery. Glad to hear that you were not hurt in yesterdays' accident.

I don't have any experience with substances as alcohol was my poison. but I believe that life is better and the future is brighter with neither in our lives.

Glad you found SR.

Hun,
I am sure someone can help you here. My drug of choice was alcohol. I've been without for almost a year.

This is a great place to mingle or just lurk if you would like.

If you ever need someone just to listen, feel free to PM me.

Airwick

You can stop, it's just a decision that has to be made over and over until it becomes the new you.

What a great way to put it: You just make that decision over and over until it becomes the new you.

Not that 12-Step Meetings are for everyone, but I got clean through Narcotics Anonymous. I'm glad you are ok and I'm thinking of you today....stay strong!

I would just add that the desire to use attacks you in your present moments and so you fight it off in your present moments. You don't worry about tomorrow's temptations. You just fight in the "now".

I too used to go to NA and I intend on going to meetings again as soon as possible. I'm actually going to try to get to one either tonight or tomorrow.

I'm glad you have a plan - try for the one tonight tho, hey?
The accident sounds scary - I hope you can make this your turning point.
