Been sober for a week!
Sobriety has given me so many gifts already, but yesterday was profound for me. All the little things just lined up beautifully, and the anxiety was beginning to drop. Then I went to AA, and due to the celebration of someones 47 years sober everyone signed an AA book for the person with the least amount of sobriety. Everyone wrote inside the book, and put in little pieces of advice or encouragement. Well I got that book.
Today, I've felt very little anxiety compared to how I usually am (sober or not). This feeling of peace with my self is new to me, and this is a sign to me that I must be on the right direction. With the help of AA, SR, this book, and all those little reminders in the book I am feeling... Um.. I guess this is what real hope feels like. I know it won't always feel simple as it does now, but I definitely know I will forever be grateful for this sobriety.

I got one of those signed books for the person with the least time at the AA conference I went to on my last day one. I treasure it. I love finding something encouraging that someone wrote inside it. It is the hardcover reprint retro edition. I was embarrassed at the sobriety countdown when I received it for being on day one, but am so grateful because it is so special.
