Moderation doesn't work for me!
I joined this site in August last year and managed to get to 31 days and was feeling great. Then I went on holiday and thought I could try to moderate and at first I did but fast forward to now and I'm sitting hungover, depressed and basically feeling awful. It very quickly went back to drinking heavily every night. I just read some of my old posts and can remember how much better I felt. So here goes again and hopefully this time for good. I hope you are all well.
Good luck Adenough - Doesn't work for me either. I wish it did but after many years of trying to just have a few drinks and winding up snorting jelly crystals or face down in my dogs' vomit-matted fur, I realised that if I had one drink and I was alone, then I'd drink until I physically couldn't drink anymore.
12 or 13 days in now and I'm feeling better and my dog has forgiven me somewhat.
Hope you feel better tomorrow morning

I really needed to take the perspective that I was now a "non drinker", that meant no more having a few drinks, maybe a drink on a special occasion, trying to control my drinking, non drinkers go on holiday and they don't drink and that was the club I was in also!!
Go at things again, but tweak your plan, you'll get there!!

I know I wouldn't start drinking to excess right away but it wouldn't take long to get back into my old routine of a bottle of wine a night. i know this because that's what's happened in the past.
why not drop the "hopefully" from your statement and just say, "This time it's for good."
Just using positive words and statements can be the difference between success and "failure". Don't leave any doubt that you are going to succeed.
