Nuke's Intro
Nuke's Intro
I have had great success with quitting nicotine (Copenhagen) using a board similar to this one, and I am hoping to have the same results when it comes to my drinking habits.
When you think of the stereotype for a sailor, I fit the bill for most all of the descriptive verbs and adjectives that you can think of. Now that I am married (and a father), my wife has curbed most of my bad habits and poor choices, but I have resisted her when it came to my alcohol consumption. Up until my sober date I drank like a drunken sailor, and even though I knew I needed to quit, I never took that first step. After being placed on some medication that does not interact well with alcohol I decided that it was time to start down the path of sobriety that I have been avoiding for so long.
I have reached out to my doctor and am seeing a counselor to help with this addiction, I am hoping that this forum will be the additional needed support that I am after.

Congrats on your choice nuke. This is a great site for help. If you dont mind pass your knowledge along how you quit the Copenhagen. I have been dipping for far too long (20 years) and cant seem to shake the smokeless tobacco habit
Welcome Nuke. I quit snuff/chew after many years of use myself a couple years before I quit drinking. Each was a different journey, but both are addictions at the core. And if you can quit one, you can quit another. Hope you can find the support you need here, there is plenty to go around.

All three of these are there to support quitting nicotine (mainly dipping). They are all intertwined a bit due to politics between sites. Personally, I like QN the best, but I have quite a few friends there. KTC will probably be the best bet for your first stop.
Edit: Apparently I have not posted enough to post links...so put "www" in front of those and you should get there.
Let me know if I can help, I am 385 days free of nicotine.
Thanks!
Also, there are some great non-nicotine alternatives out there that have helped me along considerably early in my quit. Personally, I like Hooch Herbal Snuff, or Smokey Mountain. After getting past the nicotine withdrawls the fake stuff really helps with the oral fixation. Then the only problem is quitting the fake stuff, but then again that is not slowly killing you
