I agree - a project is a great distraction. I failed Home Ec sewing back in the day - I'm terrible. Tried counted cross stitch and it looked beautiful, but it took such patience. Glad to hear you sounding positive BeBetter. You're doing this thing.

Congratulations! I am on Day 3 too. Go us! I was having a craving after work today, and grabbed a hot chocolate from Peet's on my way home which made me feel better. I think maybe I will do something creative too tonight! Thanks for the inspiration!

Then make 100 scarves and donate them to the homeless!

Crochet kept me sober the first three months! It was my escape in a way. When my hands move my mind stops or at least slows down.

I feel now it is like meditation. I go to it when I am stressed or even just plain bored. At least I am doing something.

I spent many days watching Law and Order and crocheting. Kept me sane and sober!

Great job. Slip ups happen. As long as you keep getting up you have nothing to feel ashamed of.

Awesome, Bebetter, keep it going

Sewing is a wonderful pastime.

I like knitting, but I've recently taken up needlepoint, I find it very calming. I'm only making a mini picture at the moment but have plans for a big tapestry. I find it easier than cross stitch and the colours of the threads are wonderful.

Amazing how many of us knit and sew.

Let us know what you are going to make !

Way to go on day three! I had to wipe a thick layer of dust off my sewing machine recently. I think that's a great idea. I liked what GracieLou said about keeping your hands busy to soothe the mind. I did a lot of dishes by hand in the early days.
