2000 days and counting
For no particular reason I checked my sobriety calculator and holy crap today is day 2000.
To new comers it can be done. I was one sick puppy when I started this incredible journey. I was a late stage alcoholic drinking at least a fifth of vodka a day and had been for many years. I was physically dependent and could not go 8 hours without drinking so I was forced to drink before work.
One day I didn't drink enough and I withdrew at work. I was reduced to puking in my waste paper basket and being wheeled out of my office in my chair because I was to weak to walk. I did not know it then but I am lucky to be alive
After a hospital stay I came home and immediately bought a fifth of vodka. I drank it and that was my last drink 2000 days ago.
I stayed sober through the death of my daughter. For me what worked was AA, SR, professional help both medical and psychological, the willingness to change, Spirituality, living a day at a time, having a network of people in recovery both real life and virtual, and working my program of recovery everyday of my life.
There is not one thing that keeps me sober it is a hundred little things.
God bless you all and it is my prayer you will go to bed sober tonight

Wow.
Thank you MIRecovery. I so admire your inspiration. I am proud of you. Thank you for helping me stay sober and reinforcing my choice of sobriety.
And thank you for this;
'There is not one thing that keeps me sober it is a hundred little things.'
That is exactly how it is working for me, too.
Here's to 2,000 more... And 2,000 more.... And 2,000 more.... And on and on and on.

Thank you MIR for reminding us all that a sober life is ours if we have the determination, support and plan to get there. I have always enjoyed your posts and I thank you for sharing your story. I am a 14 month rookie so you are truly an inspiration.
