Trying to get through day one

The depression is so awful.......please tell me this gets better. I have to do it this time. I can't keep going every night like this. Just needing encouragement tonight and to know I'm not alone.

You are not alone, Standing.

Have you spoken with your dr. about your depression?

Yes, Doc knows and I have been on an anti- depressant for quite awhile now. It works but the alcohol makes it worse.

Alcohol definitely increases anxiety, etc.

Are you staying hydrated and eating small, light meals?

Standing, we are all here for you.

Forget about previous attempts or relapsing in the future. Keep your thoughts on today and do whatever you need to do, to get through today.

Masturbation is a natural way to beat depression, so is jogging, swimming etc.

If you feel the need to do it, to stop drinking, then Sir, you do it.

The depression will leave you and you can start 2015 sober and free.

It is tough, but so is just about everything that is worth anything. Hang in there, it gets better! For the first few days I was glued to this place. It really helped. You can do this!

I'm drinking a lot of water. I've ate two small meals today. I'm a runner so I'm fit and understand nutrition and what my body needs. I'm trying to fight.

. I'm an avid runner. But the booze is taking a toll and I can see that it will consume all that I've worked for.

I will continue to run and work out. I'm seeking God and being honest with my husband.

Stick with it, Standing. Stay focused.

You can do this. It is going to get better; it takes time but you will get there.

Alcohol always brought on depression for me. Depressed all day, drunk all night was a pattern for years. It was very hard for me to break the cycle because i couldn't handle the anxiety and depression for the next 4 days of detox and withdrawals.

What I found very helpful was using mindfulness techniques. Just being self aware that things are not as bad as they seem and the depression is a biological side effect of alcohol leaving the system.

I have been thru many detoxes where I couldn't eat much but then I found that eating a lot of healthy foods helped speed up the recovery of my mood.

Time and sobriety are really what it comes down to however. Don't drink and things will improve

It absolutely gets better but it is tough in the beginning. Depending on your usage you may want to see doc. Without the escape, emotions run rampant. Regrets over past actions only make the urge to drink worse. Dont give in to them. After a few months you will feel better but it does get better after a few weeks. Ups and downs but it begins to level off
