10 Days! Double Digits!
10 Days! Double Digits!
10 days sober (and smoke) free today! Husband just passed 30 days! I haven't gone past 3-4 days sober in 3+ years. I've had a touch of a bug part of the time which has kept me a little weak and groggy but despite that I feel better than I've felt in years. YEARS. That is an amazing thing. The clarity of thought, the random memories coming back (silly little things but the sense of knowing things I'd forgotten for so long is wonderful), the physical improvements (no red, tired eyes! no bloat, back pain, joint pain!)....the ability to look someone in the eye out in public, to say yes to people's requests to do things rather than hide at home in shame or inside a bottle. It's amazing. Sometimes the anxiety gets to be much, but so far I'm managing it! It's more important to me to live, to be present, to get healthy than to give in to that jitter that wants a beer and a smoke (or 12). 10 days. 10 days ago I would have said no way can I get to 10 days!
Way to go! Entering into the double digits gives one a lot of hope when you have struggled to get sober and couldn't string even 7 days. I know you are so excited. Keep going, you can do this, believe in yourself!
Aww, thanks everyone! 11 today and a New Year about to start. Spending the day taking my daughter and 3 of her friends to the mall and then roller skating, then tonight she and my hubby and I are attending a Sober New Year's Eve Bash put on by the treatment center he's been going to at the local Science Center! Food and beverages, free IMAX and all the exhibits open (and cheap!). I cannot recall a sober new year for YEARS.
