It's Christmas Eve... Don't do it!!

Don't pick up, don't make an 'eff it' choice, don't say 'well just for tonight'.

Just don't do it.

Sure, Christmas Eve can come along with all sorts of pressures and emotions and temptations... But ride it out and wake tomorrow with clear head and clear conscience.

I promise you it will be worth it.

Merry Christmas Eve, all! Here's to the beauty of sobriety this Christmas.

Thanks FreeOwl, you're right.
And if temptation rears its lying voice, don't let it show images of happy times. Remember that you'll be sick, exhausted, and full of regret in a few days time. Don't buy the lie of a good time, cuz it's short lived and long paid for.

Thank you free owl. I think many of us needed to hear that right now. I know I did.

Thanks for the reminder, freeowl.

Tonight will be the first time I've been around a lot of booze since I've gotten sober and
I'm feeling a bit anxious and am trying to get myself focused.

I'm not going to drink today!

Very true FreeOwl!!

I have some awful hangover memories from Xmas days years ago, it's not all cheer and happiness when alcohol is involved, it may sound great beforehand but nothing like a clear head on Xmas morning!!

I thought you were gonna tell me to stay out of the malls! I wish you had! It was awful but I needed gifts!

AV really started to kick it up today. First holidays I'm sober in over 20 years.

We usually have my wife's sisters and their families stop by tonight, tomorrow is at my brothers house with my family. The holidays were always like a free pass to get drunk. Tomorrow is the tougher of the two family events as my side really likes to "celebrate" with copious amounts of alcohol.

Not going to happen, going to work to remember why I stopped and why I never can drink again.

Like many here, I do not have a drinking problem, I can do that just fine. I have a stopping problem.

I found that the night isn't boring, just because i'm not chemically impaired. It's interesting to watch others as they get chemically impaired, and see what it looks like from sober eyes. I was amazed at what a dbag i must have acted like in years past when i was drinking at these parties, when i thought i was just adding a little fun. oy vey.

Thanks, FreeOwl. I've had some thoughts about eggnog. Can almost taste and smell it. I'm remembering how muted and numb things always are when I was plastered. Going to engage my husband in some backgammon tonight. I'm pretty sure I'll win this year!
