6 Months Today- Very Grateful
6 Months Today- Very Grateful
Hello SR,
I wanted to thank everyone here at SR for all of your support these last 6 months. I went to a meeting this morning and picked up my 6 Month chip. The support I have gotten in the AA program and here at SR has been huge. I am looking forward to the next 6 months. It does get easier, much easier. Falling asleep and waking up sober is true freedom. I am living life and loving myself.
I am very grateful for my sobriety, and my health. Armed with those two, I can face anything. Thank You all so much! BSA

Hello Jsbodhi,
Thank You. I know what has worked for me was seeing the big picture, and realizing just how short life really is. I have dealt with my addiction to alcohol since I was 15, and was 10 years sober at one point. I got complacent with the program I was working and picked up again when life got tough. I want to experience each day for all the possibilities it holds, and I cannot do that if I drink...end of story. I recently heard a fellow at an AA meeting remark that he may have another drunk in him, but not another recovery. I feel the same way. I live by and work the AA 12 step program, and lead a very spiritual life. My life has changed in so many positive ways giving up alcohol for good. Those are some of the things that work for me. We are all different, but AA is a very personal, spiritual program. I am truly blessed, and I value each new day. Sobriety is freedom.
Thank You, BSA.

Congratulations, and I love what you wrote about how you did it. Powerful and valuable stuff. I also found the combo of AA and SR to be what has helped me the most. But there is definitely a way for everyone who wants to stop, you just have to find what works best for you.
Look forward to hearing more about your next six months and congrats again!!
