I never, ever have to go anywhere, particularly to places which serve alcohol.

I may choose to do so for a variety of good (or bad) reasons, but I don't have to go.

I would keep that in mind, even during the event.

When I was about 6 months sober, I got down to Atlanta Motor Speedway to see a NASCAR race, but I sold my tickets and turned around and went home because I didn't feel comfortable.

And I still have the same sobriety date.

Just my thoughts.

I am very happy for you and your 40 days.

Thanks everybody, I mean it. You were there for me on my first sober weekend alone, and you're there for me on my first sober night around drinking. Thank you. I'll let you know how it goes!

SoberCAH, thanks for the reminder. Once I get there, if I do feel it's too much, I *will* leave. It's a last resort, but I'd far rather leave than drink, and I know my husband would agree with that. I'm going to go hoping to have fun, but prepared for any eventuality. The one thing I won't do is drink.

Might be a totally crap idea, but how about taking a camera and being the gig photographer... can always pop about the place, and people might leave you alone with a camera to point in their face!!! you can fiddle with it, look meaning ful etc... also need to be sober for something like that!!!
good luck

It's for his work, it's important, and I would be a crap wife if I wasn't there to support him.
It would also be crap if you used the occasion to get drunk.

Remember why you're there, remember it's the first drink that starts the madness, stay true, snowbunting
