Hello

I have stopped drinking since February and all is good. I joined my local canoe club as part of my strategy to change my life for the better and be among sober people doing something I have loved for years.

The reason I have joined hear is I am very aware that the upcoming mid winter festivities will bring temptations and I am steeling my resolve that not one more drink will get passed.

Hi canoe!

Love your name, I'm a paddler too. Just put my boat away for the season, and it makes me sad...

Congrats on your sobriety, that's awesome!!

There is a ton of support here. Look around, chime in where you like, or just read for a while. Every month has a "class of" thread in the newcomers daily support threads forum. Class of February 2014 seems pretty active, you might want to check in there.

Good luck and nice to "meet" you!

Hey Canoe- Welcome. This is a great site for support. Also, congrats on the ten months!

That is so important. I feel the biggest key is to create a lifestyle where alcohol has no place. Fitness is huge for that.

I hope to see you around!

Welcome to SR, canoe...and big congratulations on your sobriety! Canoeing is one of those things I would love to do, but I haven't done it since I was a teenager. Oh, and if you're drinking, it becomes a little hazardous I guess! I'm glad you posted, you will find a lot of support and understanding here.

Thank you everyone for your kind words and warm welcome 😃

My sobriety is in my control and feels strong and resolute. Now I must do wot is right for me and that means keep actively avoiding drink and drunk people.
