I've always enjoyed working out, but now it's even more rewarding to see outwardly the additional progress made since no alcohol is involved. I like working on projects in the yard too. But I'm especially savoring being completely engaged with my kids without the monumental distraction I had allowed alcohol to become.
My favorite thing is going to bed sober. As for hobbies, nothing holds my interest very long. I find that really weird because I've always been involved in crafts and fitness, but I can't seem to find the initiative to really do much right now. I do still do photography, so that is something.
And I wanna know about the future telling, too, SnowDawg, but I guess you knew that

I am baking muffins right now. My kids benefit from my sobriety in that way. I am crafty. I do a few things, my main hobby being beads and making jewelry. I made a set for myself last week with beads had around for more than a year! Lost one of the earrings already. seemed to come home without it after some errands yesterday. In all my spare sober time I will just have to make something else.
Anything to avoid the housework I neglect while drinking...

Cooking, watching movies.... Amazing to actually enjoy a movie. I used to pass out 1/2 wat thru. Of course christmas is coming up so decorating has kept me busy . I'm ready to be able to relax and not worry about " the idle hands that are used to drinking"
I've got some info on palm reading somewhere...
Endlesspatience, I love getting lost in books at the library. And I love the smell of smart.
EATING!...I kid..kinda lol. But seriously I restricted so much food when drinking or just didn't eat. Now, it's a pleasure to eat sweets (in moderation) and yummy nutritional food with no guilt
I also enjoy working out now.
I can go out in public too to do just about anything because my anxiety is pretty much nonexistent now
I enjoy family time and going out to eat and try new foods.
Also, mindfulness is something I am practicing.
I like looking up motivational stuff on the internet; SR included of course
Reading the Bible and other books when I get time.
Just relaxing!!!! Giving my mind a break in general. And giving it a break from the roller coaster I was on when drinking. That was EXHAUSTING to say the least.

I'll admit that I have not been very proactive with planning new activities and hobbies. Maybe it's time for me to start adding more things to my life now that I have so much time since I'm not drunk or nursing a hangover seven days a week.
I will say though that everything is better now. Everything. I took my dog for a walk this evening and had my usual "Wow, I'm NOT hungover today" moment. Not hungover. Holy crap I'm not hungover. Everything is easier and more pleasant now.

In the last 20 months I've read more -- with greater comprehension -- and listened to more music -- of a wider variety -- than I have done in years. I bake (mainly bread), I cook whole foods and vegan dishes. I knit. I moderate at a forum, walk everyday and cycle on weekends. In between I work a full time job.
Gotta love sobriety.

That initiative will come back Altoids, keep working on feeding yourself well and recovering. I was the same initially.
Walking, cycling, reading, music and long (200-300 mile) backpack trips. I have also recently taken up Navajo-style tapestry weaving. I have to be cautious with the weaving; I'm 77 and have arthritis in both hands which is painful when it flares up.

Grateful,
For my first run of the year, and months of "rehab" and alternative therapy for my injury paying off.
For no surgery.
For seashells, spirals, the full moon near low tide, poetry, art, tangelos, vivid dreams, no tv, no bs, no drama, no news, hard work, music, gelato, hot showers, stars, pets, stillness, ease, confidence and conviction.
For absorption, immersion, nd single pointedness.
For this forum group and the posters.
And these bones and the rest of me, and the bed they rest on.

Reading and writing have always been my favorite hobbies but when I'm drinking I'm not able to focus or think clearly enough to enjoy doing either of these. Also cooking, shopping, and spending time with loved ones I used to dodge in order to spend time with a bottle.
