I learned that my excessive people pleasing came from my need to control. I was so full of resentment because of my expectations tied into the "pleasing" of others. Now that I consider myself in the equation, I do things for others when it feels good and right to do it for them AND for me. It is not charitable to give to others that which you hold against them.
