Day 9 - Tired

Feeling so tired and drained after feeling really good the past few days.

Is this normal?

Thx

It was certainly normal for me Dicky - I was fatigued for quite a while.
We've been through a lot - give yourself some time to recuperate

Yeah, normal. It takes some time for the body to adjust- it's been running on alcohol for a long time!

I nearly fell asleep at a team meeting yesterday Dicky. The content was sleep provoking though to my credit

Hi Dicky, I'm tired too, day 19 now.

It takes time, I would imagine, and a lot of ups and downs.

I've felt great, then bad, repeat, over the past week or so.

Some mornings I was feeling as if I was hungover, too, so I upped the water intake. You need A LOT of water at this stage.

Congrats on day 9, whoop whoop !!

Yes, very normal; I was plagued by fatigue for quite some time. Alcoholism damages us in so many way; be gentle with yourself (if you can, try not to expect too much of yourself in the beginning); your mind and body are recovering.

Congrats on 9 days! We all have lousy days from time to time no matter how long we have been sober. IMO the key is to accept the fact that there will, in fact, be lousy days, and have a strategy prepared (that does not include drugs or alcohol) to deal with them when they arrive. Many of us set ourselves up for disappointment by thinking that we will eventually reach a perfect, utopian way of life if we can just remain sober for a certain period of time. Unfortunately, that is not the case at all. Sobriety is awesome!!! But it is by no means perfect. There will always be bad days to deal with no matter how long we have been sober. So it is very important to have a strategy prepared to deal with those bad days. Otherwise, it will be very tempting to resort to our old coping mechanism... Drugs and/or alcohol.

Yeah, I was tired. I lacked energy and enthusiasm. It seemed somehow unfair. I thought I ought to be full of energy once the alcohol had properly cleared out of my system.
