Starting my first thread
Good morning everyone. Today is day 10 for me, and I decided I should start my first thread on SR. I have found not drinking has gone a little easier as I have gone on, but I think a big part of that right now is that it is not a weekend. I have seen a lot of people on here say that you need to not want to drink to be able to not too. I want to not drink, but I think if I were to be completely honest with myself I still want to drink. I would love to be able to drink responsibly with my family and friends, but I know that is not possible. Anyways, that is my thought for the morning, off to work. Have a great day everyone!
Hi, johnny,Welcome !
Congratulations on 10 days sober
Yeah, initially that's what I wanted too, but I know that it's not possible for me to just have one or two.
Besides that, I have put so much booze and other poison in to my body over the years, that I just do not want to add to that any more.
As you probably know already ,there is tons of support here for you.

Glad you're here!!
A desire to stop drinking and the willingness to change behaviors are imperatives. Want is another issue.....many of us may still want = wish we could. Then, even that fades for many......
Good Choice!

Hi and congratulations on your 10 days, it should get a bit easier each day.
As time goes by we have a tendency in our heads to want to be sober however many forget the reason we sought sobriety. It helps immensely to remember when and not act on our obsession to drink. Keep posting and perhaps try going to meetings for recovery.

Welcome and 10 days sober is a real nice start.

Welcome Johnny, and great first post. 10 days is awesome. As others have said, it does get better. Sometimes I would still like to have a drink, but I know it would not be long before I was back to square one. Life without alcohol is much better. I hated the feeling of not being in control, letting myself and others down. Not remembering the night before. Feeling not good enough. A drink is just not worth it. I am glad you are on the journey with us. We are all here for you.
Welcome johnny, well done on 10 days!
