Don't do it CG. I caved about three weeks ago. Took me 4 days to stop again. Took well over a week to forgive myself. Take it from experience, don't drink. You'll love yourself in the morning if you don't.

Please don't drink Countrygirl.one drink and you will be off on the merrygoround,no telling when and if you can stop again.

Withdrawls get worse over time.

Make sure you are not thirsty, drink some water.Often when I wanted to drink in early recovery,I was simply thirsty, took me ages to realise that!

Here's the deal CG- you run the show not your AV.

It has no arms or legs to go to the shop and buy anything,& no mouth to drink it with. It needs you to get what it wants.

Refuse it.

Use these tips too.

eat something

You don't want to drink, or you wouldn't have posted this. Refuse your 'voice'. Just say NO.

Sorry you are suffering today. What exactly is going on?

Regardless, drinking is only going to compound your problems. Your addiction is tugging hard at you today, but it's up to you to make the decision. Can you surf through this urge? Urges and cravings pass. And they lose their power with each "no" you give.

You might go straight for some food after work. That always helped me with urges.

Hey CG, We're here for ya! Stick around a bit, please. Or take us with you on a walk outside, a trip to the candy bowl, or a closet to scream in. Whatever it takes!

Sorry to hear it CG. Usually when someone says "I'm going to drink"...they are going to drink. When you hear that voice rumble next time, say it loud and proud: "I am NOT going to drink".

If you're still toughing it out, go buy some Ben & Jerry's and some seltzer water and get cozy with a trashy TV show or movie you like. Here's hoping you can ride out the storm! It's up to you!

Hey, CG,
Hang in there, we are all here with you!! Tell your AV to take a hike, and the next time it will be less difficult.

I hope you are doing ok- stay strong. You will be amazed at what strength you have after you get past this!

If you must go into a bottle store, promise us one thing ok?

You have to go in absolutely stark naked!!!

That will be a great test of how much you actually NEED a drink.

If you would not go into the bottle store stark naked, then you must value your dignity.

If you value your dignity...... Don't drink!!!

Ok so what sparked this. Jealousy. I work in a sportsmans club for now and every night my fiancé comes around 6 to pick up my daughter. Wednesdays his whole family gets together. So this woman that is going to be working there, I guess the family knows from way back, starts talking to all of them. I perceive her as a threat. Why is he talking to her, why does he listen to her but I get passed out drunk guy who I haven't had a conversation with in a loooong time. Maybe it's because she drinks. He will pay attention to me again if I drink....and so on and so on. AV firmly attached and rides me like a bronco for 2 hours. Why do I care? I was just complaining about him on here this morning. Let her wash his drunk ass and deal with the drunken snoring. Obviously, this should not have bothered me like it did. I don't even think I have anything to worry about. The jealousy led to rage led to depression led to just nasty dark feelings I do not like. That's my story.

Good for you CG. Learning how to deal with life sober is the ultimate fight with this addiction. Great job tonight.
